Manners & Respect

Growing up, I was always taught how to have common courtesy. From having utensils at 4:00 on the plate after eating, to always greet with a smiling face, these were the actions I was raised to do.

As I entered the versatile world of life, I had to adjust to a lot of people. Not everyone had the same mannerisms I had. Some people would make “parinig” or do irrational acts that Emily Post would certainly be disgusted about. Being the nice girl that I am, I prefer to keep quiet and keep my dignity, knowing that I am above all of those people who have temper problems. There were times I really wanted to fight back, but I realize some people are just not worth it. Why stoop down to their level of disrespect and ill mannerisms when I have the breeding of people who have royal Portuguese blood?

The only time I would really talk back is when I care about someone. The moment I can be blunt to someone means that I really care about that person. But ofcourse, I say it in a nice and succinct manner. If I just keep quiet, then it means “I’m above you and I don’t care about you”.
